Introduction to the Research Group

Wenguang Zhou is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Nanchang University. He is the recipient of the 7th China Overseas Chinese Contribution Award, a leading talent under the Ganpo Outstanding Talents Support Program, an awardee of the Outstanding Youth Fund of Jiangxi Province, and a Discipline Leading Talent of Nanchang University. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Key Laboratory of Poyang Lake Environment and Resource Utilization, Ministry of Education, Nanchang University.

Professor Zhou holds numerous prominent academic and professional positions: Editor-in-Chief of Algal Research, the top international journal in phycology; Executive Committee Member of the International Society for Applied Phycology; Chair of the 10th Asia-Pacific Conference on Applied Phycology (10th APCAB); Senior Member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE); Member of the Steering Committee of the Microalgae Branch of the Chinese Algae Association; Standing Director of the Water Treatment and Reuse Committee of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences; Standing Director of the Industrial Ecological Economy and Technology Committee of the Chinese Ecological Economics Society; Standing Director of the Industrial Ecology Committee of the Ecological Society of China. He is also a member of the Expert Database of the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a member of the Expert Database of the National Office for Science and Technology Awards, and a Distinguished Expert of the Population, Resources and Environment Committee of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Jiangxi Provincial Committee.

His main research directions include:

Recruitment Details

Eligibility Criteria

1. Applicants should be born on or after January 1, 1990 (age 35 or below), with good physical and mental health. The doctoral degree must be obtained within 3 years, or the doctoral dissertation defense must have been completed.

2. Be honest and trustworthy, passionate about scientific research, courageous to take on key responsibilities, and possess excellent teamwork spirit.

3. Hold a doctoral degree in chemical engineering, biological engineering, environmental science and engineering, life sciences or related disciplines. Applicants must have published high-quality research papers as the first author or corresponding author in relevant fields. Candidates should be meticulous and rigorous in work, have a strong passion for scientific research, be sincere and broad-minded, excel in communication and collaboration, and demonstrate strong capabilities in independent research.

Job Responsibilities

1. Under the guidance of the supervising professor, conduct research on microalgal carbon fixation from industrial flue gas, microalgal wastewater treatment technology, algae-bacteria biofilms, life cycle assessment, microalgal carbon sink methodology and related topics.

2. Assist in supervising master’s and doctoral students.

3. Actively apply for major research funding programs, including the Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Postdoctoral researchers shall manage the allocated funding upon obtaining project support.

Position Benefits

1. The annual salary is no less than 242,000 RMB (pre-tax, including rental subsidy). The specific remuneration package is determined through consultation between the postdoctoral research station and the postdoctoral researcher. Eligible candidates can enjoy relevant postdoctoral policies stipulated in the Nine Policies for Postdoctoral Researchers of Jiangxi Province.

2. Full support will be provided for postdoctoral researchers to apply for national, provincial and municipal postdoctoral talent programs and research projects during their station stay. Successful applicants will enjoy the corresponding benefits on the principle of taking the higher standard.

3. Recruits are eligible to rent public rental housing for university faculty after joining the group.

4. Household registration procedures will be handled in accordance with postdoctoral administration policies of Jiangxi Province and relevant policies of Nanchang City. Postdoctoral researchers who choose to work in Jiangxi after completing their postdoctoral research are entitled to relevant policies under the Ten New Talent Policies of Nanchang.
