Nanchang University is a Double First-Class university under national construction, a co-constructed university by the Ministry of Education and Jiangxi Provincial Government, and a university for overall construction of first-class universities in Jiangxi Province. The university has 31 authorized categories of professional master's degrees, as well as the right to grant master's degrees to on-the-job personnel with equivalent academic qualifications.

Centering on basin carbon neutrality and ecological protection of Poyang Lake, the School of Resources and Environmental Sciences takes Environmental Science and Engineering as its core discipline, supported by Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering, and Process Equipment and Control Engineering. It focuses on scientific research and talent cultivation for green, low-carbon, and circular development. To meet the needs of social development and economic construction, improve the quality of professionals in education, science and technology, management, and other fields, and foster high-level specialized talents through multiple channels, the school has long been offering programs for applying for master's degrees with academic qualifications equivalent to those of postgraduates.

I. Introduction to Master’s Degree Application via Equivalent Academic Qualifications

Academic qualification refers to learning ability and knowledge level. Master’s degree application via equivalent academic qualifications (referred to as equivalent academic qualification application for short) means that eligible applicants may submit applications to degree-granting institutions in accordance with the Regulations of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council on Granting Master’s and Doctoral Degrees to Personnel with Academic Qualifications Equivalent to Those of Postgraduates. Those who meet the training requirements for master's degree students will be awarded a master's degree. Applicants via equivalent academic qualifications will only obtain a master's degree certificate, not a postgraduate graduation certificate. The obtained master's degree certificate can be verified on the Degree Certification Website of the Ministry of Education.

II. Application Requirements

1. Applicants who have obtained a bachelor's degree and have more than 3 years of work experience after graduation; or those who do not have a bachelor's degree but have obtained a master's or doctoral degree; or overseas bachelor's degree holders (with more than 3 years of work experience after graduation), master's or doctoral degree holders whose degrees are certified by the China Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, Ministry of Education.

2. Applicants who have made achievements in the major of the applied degree or a related major, and whose academic or professional and technical level has reached the equivalent level of postgraduates graduating from the applied major.

III. Application Procedures

Applicants shall submit relevant documents for on-site registration at the School of Continuing Education, Nanchang University (East Lake Campus). The following is for reference only; the specific procedures shall be subject to the notice of the School of Continuing Education, Nanchang University.

1. The following materials must be submitted for on-site registration:

   (1) Original and copy of the Application Form for Master’s Degree via Equivalent Academic Qualifications with the official seal of the applicant’s unit (Annex 1);

   (2) Original and copy of the second-generation resident identity card;
   (3) Original and copy of academic certificate and degree certificate;
   (4) Online verification report or certification report of higher education degree in China;
   (5) Electronic ID photo with blue background (size requirement: 390 pixels in width and 567 pixels in height; file size within 200K; format: JPG).

2. After the application materials are approved, applicants shall pay the fees on-site, complete the fingerprint information collection procedure, and take on-site photos.

IV. Fee Standards

• Registration Fee: 100 RMB

• Tuition fee is paid in two phases: course study phase and degree thesis phase.

Applicants shall pay the registration fee and course study fee in the first phase. The thesis tuition fee shall be paid after completing the on-campus courses and passing the national unified English examination.

• Course Study Fee: 16,000 RMB

• Thesis Phase Fee: 16,000 RMB

VI. Course Learning Methods

Public courses are arranged by the School of Continuing Education, and professional courses are arranged by the School of Resources and Environmental Sciences. Both public and professional courses are delivered online, with unified face-to-face teaching arranged during winter and summer vacations and weekends after enrollment.

VII. Degree Granting

Starting from the date of qualification review, applicants must:

1. Complete all courses specified in the master's degree training program of the applied major within 4 years, pass the required examinations with a score of 70 or above (passing score), and earn the required 26 credits;

2. Pass the National Unified Examination for Foreign Language Proficiency for master's degree applicants via equivalent academic qualifications with a score of 60 or above (passing score);

3. Publish one professional-related paper as the sole author or first author in academic journals at or above the provincial level;

4. Defend the master's thesis within 6 years.

Applicants who pass the equivalent academic qualification assessment and are approved by the Academic Degree Committee of Nanchang University will be awarded a master's degree and issued a degree certificate.
