School of Resources and Environmental Sciences Holds Employment Mobilization Meeting for the Class of 2026 and Launching Ceremony of the Win

To proactively address the employment situation and fully promote more sufficient and higher-quality employment for the Class of 2026 graduates, the School organized the Employment Mobilization Meeting for the Class of 2026 Graduates and Launching Ceremony of the Winter Vacation Employment Promotion Initiative on the morning of January 13 at the Peng Feng Lecture Hall in the Environmental Building. Attendees included Mei Na, Deputy Director of the University’s Admissions and Employment Office; Wang Likun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School; Shi Lei, Dean of the School; Bai Xiaowu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Liu Zhifeng, Vice Dean; Peng Honggen, Vice Dean; directors of all departments; heads of student and graduate affairs; counselors of graduating classes; and all graduates of the Class of 2026. The meeting was hosted by Bai Xiaowu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School.

I. Briefing on the Employment Situation of the Class of 2025 Graduates
Vice Dean Liu Zhifeng delivered a detailed briefing on the employment placement progress of the School’s Class of 2026 graduates. The content covered the overall scale of postgraduate and undergraduate students, employment rates by major, employment comparisons across different academic levels, as well as the current employment progress of the Class of 2026 graduates and comparative data with the same period last year. The comprehensive data analysis provided an important reference for the employment work of the Class of 2026, clarifying the strengths and areas requiring improvement.

II. Speeches by Representatives of the Class of 2026 Graduates
Li Zida, representative of undergraduate graduates, shared his experience of growth through active participation in enterprise lectures and internship programs organized by the School. He called on his fellow students to strengthen information sharing, support each other, and jointly enhance their employment competitiveness.

Zhang Youzhen, representative of postgraduate graduates, summarized his job-hunting experience with the word "challenge". He put forward three suggestions: "proactively adapt to changes and broaden horizons", "consolidate core professional competitiveness", and "maintain confidence and respond positively", demonstrating a rational and pragmatic attitude toward employment.

III. Guidance Speeches by Department Directors
Ouyang Erming, Director of the Department of Municipal Engineering, encouraged graduates to regard career choices as important crossroads in life. He advised them to seek opportunities in national strategies such as the "dual carbon" goals and new-type urbanization, start from ordinary positions, and realize their values through creation and dedication.

Liu Jun, Deputy Director of the Department of Process Equipment and Control Engineering, pointed out that the professional development has expanded from traditional factories to emerging fields such as new energy and intelligent manufacturing. He encouraged students to broaden their horizons, actively adapt to industrial transformation, and apply their knowledge to a broader stage.

Ma Zhifei, Deputy Director of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, analyzed employment opportunities based on the highly interdisciplinary nature of the major. He provided specific suggestions, including paying attention to official information, tailoring resumes to target positions, proactively seeking help from teachers, and taking internship opportunities during the winter vacation.

IV. Interpretation of Employment Policies
Mei Na, Deputy Director of the University’s Admissions and Employment Office, provided students with an authoritative and in-depth analysis of the employment situation and policy interpretation. She elaborated on the forward shift and changing trends of enterprise recruitment models against the backdrop of the continuous growth in the number of graduates and the profound changes in the job market brought about by the artificial intelligence era. She emphasized the extreme importance of seizing the "window of opportunity" during the winter vacation. Deputy Director Mei also gave clear policy explanations and practical guidance on issues of widespread concern to students, such as "graduate status", resume writing, internship practice, and job-hunting channels. She encouraged everyone to make good use of policy dividends, take proactive actions, and enhance their employment competitiveness.

V. Speech by Dean Shi Lei
In his speech, Dean Shi Lei opened with the statement "Choice is the greatest wisdom in life" and guided students to understand the characteristics of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity of the "VUCA era" we are in. He suggested that students cultivate a "growth mindset", strive to improve three core abilities—insight, critical thinking, and execution—and flexibly apply thinking tools and methods to make wise life choices in a changing environment.

VI. Employment Mobilization and Deployment for the Class of 2026 by Party Secretary Wang Likun
Wang Likun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, delivered a mobilization and concluding speech. Combining her years of experience in student work, she put forward four earnest expectations for the students: first, recognize the severe employment situation and enhance a sense of urgency; second, conduct in-depth self-assessment and carefully refine resumes that match target positions; third, attach great importance to career planning in the graduation stage, regarding it as a key step that determines life direction; fourth, establish a correct view of employment, be mentally prepared for hardships, rationally view the choices between large and small enterprises, and between big and small cities, and seize the current golden period for job hunting. She called on all graduates to actively meet challenges with a proactive attitude.

This meeting is not only a comprehensive employment mobilization and work deployment, but also a warm educational practice and a send-off for the graduates. It marks that the employment work for the Class of 2026 graduates of the School of Resources and Environmental Sciences has fully entered the critical stage.
