Research Overview

The research focuses on the planning and design technologies for urban water environment remediation projects, encompassing the enhancement of wastewater treatment quality and efficiency, construction of regional stormwater drainage and flood prevention systems, development of sponge cities, and remediation of black and odorous water bodies. Targeting common issues in the drainage and sewerage systems of mountainous urban areas, novel engineering design approaches such as “pipe network diagnostics,” sewage and stormwater diversion, and low-water-level operation of pipe networks have been proposed. Furthermore, a series of innovative technologies, including composite interception wells, deep-bed denitrification technology, and cross-flow filtration systems (DE-type filters), have been developed to advance technological progress in the industry.

A total of 240 technical service projects have been led. These projects have effectively increased the centralized sewage collection rate and influent concentration of wastewater treatment plants in various regions, successfully resolved urban waterlogging issues in multiple locations, and—through third-party audit assessments and engineering optimization designs—have saved substantial engineering investment for local governments. This work contributes significantly to the improvement of local water environment quality and socio-economic development.

Continuous research has been conducted on the application of high-voltage discharge plasma technology in treating high-concentration, refractory organic wastewater. A novel dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reactor structure and a computational model (formula) for the local electric field in gas-liquid two-phase mixtures have been proposed. Significant progress has been made in research on coupling activated carbon adsorption technology with discharge plasma. One provincial Natural Science Foundation project and one provincial Department of Education research project have been completed, with over 30 academic papers published, 2 patents authorized, 2 group standards drafted, and 1 monograph contributed to as an associate editor.
