Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering

N Reasons to Choose the Major of Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering

1.  Historical Origins

The major of Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering was first established at Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Tongji University in 1952. After more than 70 years of development, there are currently about 190 undergraduate program sites in universities across China, with over 44,000 enrolled students and more than 10,000 graduates each year. Around 83 universities have the right to confer master's degrees, and about 34 universities have doctoral degree conferral rights in this field. The scale of the major ranks among the top 20% among all undergraduate majors in China. Centered on the social water cycle, Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering provides crucial talent and technical support for achieving a sound social water cycle and sustainable utilization of water resources. The major mainly serves the fields of water resource utilization and protection, urban and rural water supply and drainage, building water supply and drainage, industrial water supply and drainage, agricultural water supply and drainage, urban solid waste treatment and disposal, water-saving engineering, etc. It aims to cultivate senior engineering and technical talents engaged in the planning, design, construction, operation, management, scientific research, and teaching of water supply and drainage engineering. The corresponding postgraduate (master's and doctoral) major for the undergraduate program of Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering is **Municipal Engineering**. The undergraduate program of Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering at Nanchang University was founded in 1986, with the first enrollment in 1987. Up to now, it has produced 30 cohorts of graduates. In 2006, the program obtained the right to confer master's degrees in Municipal Engineering. 2.  Faculty Team The major currently has 13 full-time teachers, including 3 professors (23.1%), 4 associate professors (30.1%), and 9 teachers with doctoral degrees (69.2%). The proportion of teachers with master's degrees or above reaches 100%. 3.  Teaching, Scientific Research and Discipline Construction Platforms Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering is one of the longest-running majors in our university. Every year, some graduates pursue postgraduate studies in our university or other universities. Those who can be admitted to postgraduate programs are usually students who study hard and make great efforts in exam preparation. If you apply for the postgraduate program of Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering (the postgraduate major is renamed "Municipal Engineering") at Nanchang University, both the initial entrance examination and the final graduation requirements are comparable to those of other well-known universities in China. Postgraduate training is a further "forging" and improvement of the professional capabilities of outstanding undergraduates. In terms of employment opportunities, postgraduates generally have more options than undergraduates.
