Xu Peilun, male, of Han ethnicity, was born in July 1993 in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. He holds a Doctoral degree in Engineering, and is an Associate Professor/Master’s Supervisor. Currently, he serves as Deputy Director (in charge of the department’s overall work) of the Department of Resources Science and Engineering, College of Resources and Environment, Nanchang University, and also acts as a Science and Technology Commissioner of Jiangxi Province.
His research interests include biological treatment and resource utilization of industrial flue gas and microalgae-based carbon neutrality. He applies biotechnology to treat industrial flue gas, converting harmful flue gas into high-value biomass products. His research also focuses on identifying the rate-limiting environmental factors for large-scale microalgal carbon fixation, clarifying the mechanism of light quality on microalgal carbon fixation efficiency, and designing new types of photobioreactors. A demonstration base for microalgae cultivation using real flue gas CO₂ from coal-fired power plants has been established under his efforts, which comprehensively improves the efficiency of industrial carbon fixation. He has presided over one project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and published more than 10 papers in international mainstream journals such as Bioresource Technology and Journal of Hazardous Materials.
